A 79-YEAR-OLD man remained in a stable condition in hospital last night after a crash involving a car and a lorry.

The pensioner suffered head and chest injuries in the collision in Holme Wood Road near the junction with Cutler Heights Lane, at 5.20pm on Wednesday.

He had to be cut free by firefighters from the green Honda Accord he was driving and he was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

The other vehicle involved was a Mercedes-Benz Atego lorry.

Police have appealed for witnesses as they try to piece together the circumstances of what caused the collision.

Sergeant Martin Greasley, of the Western Area Roads Policing Unit, said: “I would ask anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the movements of either vehicle prior to it, to contact PC Rookes at the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101.”

l A crash between a black Toyota Corolla and a bus caused congestion outside Bradford Interchange at about 6pm yesterday. No serious injuries were reported.
