SHOPPING centre staff are appealing for help in re-uniting a tiny kitten found under a car bonnet.

The black and white cat was discovered in the car park at Kirkgate Shopping Centre in Bradford on Monday by a driver who heard a noise and checked under the bonnet of his Toyota to find her sitting on top of the battery.

Toya as she has been temporarily named, is being looked after by car park staff, while her owner is found. An appeal has also been posted on the centre’s Facebook page and is attracting a lot of interest.

Security guard Ash Sykes and his partner Beccy Connor have taken her in. Beccy said: “The man who found her said he wasn’t from Bradford, so we are not sure where she has come from. She is probably no more than 12 weeks old, so I don’t know whether she is too young to be microchipped, but we are taking her to the vets on Friday to find out.”

“She doesn’t seem to have come to any harm under the bonnet and was just a bit dirty.”

Catherine Riley, centre manager, said: “The cat sat with Ash all afternoon on Monday while he was on duty in the car park – she was sat on his shoulder watching all the cars come in and out! We have temporarily named her Toya as she was found under the bonnet of a Toyota sitting on top of the battery.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Beccy on 07983 379995.
