TWIDDLE muff mania has reached knitters in Norway who are keen to help Bradford patients who have dementia.

Last week the Telegraph & Argus reported how knitters up and down the country were clicking away after hearing about an appeal for volunteers to make twiddle muffs – knitted bands with trimmings of ribbons, beads, buttons and zips – for patients at Bradford Royal Infirmary and at St Luke’s Hospital.

Bradford Hospital’s lead dementia nurse Danielle Woods has been bombarded with e-mails since the first T&A story, coming from as far afield as Aberdeen and London – but now someone in Norway has been in touch keen to help.

The twiddle muff, or cuff, was designed to help combat restlessness and agitation in dementia patients by keeping hands busy as well as stimulating the mind.
