CARERS are being invited to learn about their rights and the support available at a special event in Bradford to mark Carers Rights Day.

The Carers’ Resource, a charity which gives bespoke support to carers, is inviting people to find out about its various services and to question a panel of specialists.

Anyone looking after a relative, friend or neighbour is invited to its offices in Park View Court, St Paul’s Road, Shipley, on Friday, November 28.

The first part of the day, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, will be a drop-in where staff will be on hand to explain the new service which gives tailor-made support to carers, including emotional and practical support, advocacy, planning for emergencies and information.

There are also projects which helping carers carers to access training, employment and education, and as well as helping carers find out about breaks, leisure and social activities. A panel of Carer specialists will be taking questions from carers between 1pm to 2pm in an informal atmosphere.

The Carers’ Resource has recently been awarded a new three-year contract to deliver services in Bradford, Craven, Airedale and Wharfedale.

Carers’ Resource director Anne Smyth (pictured) said: “We will ask carers to get their problems off their chest.”

, and we will also be asking carers to literally get their problems ‘off their chest’ and to put their comments, ideas and issues on our ‘carer superhero’s chest’.”
