PARENTS at a primary school are being warned of a new online threat to their children.

Bosses at Eastburn Junior and Infant School are urging people to be on their guard against potential dangers of Snapchat.

The plea has been issued through the school’s latest newsletter.

“We are frequently reminding the children about keeping themselves safe online by not giving out personal information or accessing age inappropriate materials but there are always new dangers appearing,” said a spokesman.

A spokesman said: “Snapchat is a development where photos can be sent via devices and are then automatically deleted after a short space of time. This has dangers, as deletion leaves no record so children can be vulnerable.” to this being misused, either by legitimate users or those who have stolen others’ identities.

“Please be vigilant in keeping a close watch on your children’s activities on all devices.”
