TWO men have been convicted by a jury of joining in a plot to lead the police to planted firearms and drugs in a bid to reduce the long prison sentence their brother was set to receive.

Amer Javed, 34, and Saqib Javed, 38, both of Ashfield Drive, Frizinghall, Bradford, were today found guilty at Bradford Crown Court of conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice.

Their brother, convicted Class A drug dealer Asad Javed, and his accomplice, Imran Khan, had already admitted the offence.

All four men will be sentenced on December 16.

During the trial, the court heard that the conspiracy was thought up by Asad Javed and Khan when they were being held in Leeds Prison awaiting sentence for drug dealing.

They enlisted the help of people on the outside, including the brothers.

The plan was that drugs and guns would be hidden for the police to 'find' so that Asad Javed and Khan would curry favour and their long sentences would be reduced.

But the conspirators fell out and the plan went wrong, the jury was told.

Khan led the police to a relatively small quantity of extremely weak heroin and an imitation Walther pistol and, when Javed went out, he could find nothing at all. The items planted for him had been removed.
