LIVING in East Morton has proved profitable for two players after they scooped £25,000 each on the People's Postcode Lottery.

Graham Horton, 36 and Jackie Lowe, 43, received their winnings after their postcode, BD20 5WB, was drawn as a winner in the national competition.

Shocked Mr Horton, who is a chief engineer at Maersk Oil, plans to spend his cash on a new car and treat his family; wife Charlotte and sons Will, five, and Joshua, three at Christmas.

He said: “I still can’t believe it.

“I was trying not to think about my win before I saw the cheque, I never expected to win that much.

“I would love to upgrade my car to a new Audi.

“I will certainly be able to treat my wife and kids this Christmas.

“I’m sure they will be even more excited when they see their presents.

“When I lived in Scotland, one of my neighbours who shared my postcode won.

“It looks like my current postcode is lucky as well.”

Meanwhile, Mrs Lowe, a self-employed cleaner, plans to spend her cash on a pre-Christmas trip to Lapland for her family; husband Stephen and nine-year-old son Oliver.

She said: “It was such a surprise.

“I was so excited to see how much I had won, I asked my neighbour to come over and sit with me.

"My neighbours are all planning on signing up.

“Stephen didn’t even know I played until I told him I had won.

“My husband is already looking at new BMWs.

“We have never been before and it will be a fantastic treat for Oliver. "

As a charity lottery, players have raised more than £51.4 million for charities and good causes across Great Britain and globally.

Closer to home, a host of district projects have benefitted from the project.

Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure, received £7,500 from players of People’s Postcode Lottery to enable them to set up its Wheelchair Basketball Club.

The pair received the windfall from the People's Postcode Lottery Street Prize presenter Judie McCourt.

She said: "Meeting Graham and Jackie was fantastic.

"They were both over the moon when they saw how much they had won.

"I hope they both treat themselves.”
