AN ILKLEY Grammar School production will form part of research into a race and gender project.
Novelist Delia Jarrett-Macauley is co-ordinating Othello can be white, Romeo can be a girl! and linking with Warwick University.
The school’s show, which was performed last month in Leeds for the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival, had an all-female, all-white cast.
Karen Jones, assistant head teacher at the school, said: “It was lovely to see the girls working so strongly together as an ensemble. They made the story clear and built great tension.”
