A BRADFORD University student, who told a jury he was "not aggressive in any way", has been cleared of raping and sexually assaulting a devoutly Christian young woman.

Kris Mambo, 22, who is studying civil engineering, was unanimously found not guilty at Bradford Crown Court this afternoon.

He was on trial charged with raping, attempting to rape and sexually assaulting the complainant.

Each of the three single offences was said to have happened in Bradford, between November last year and May 20.

Mambo, of Little Horton Lane, Bradford, told the jury he wanted a happy and peaceful relationship with the woman but she saw any sexual advance as an attack.

He said: "Most women go into a relationship assuming that most men are rapists."

Mambo said the woman was a devout Christian and would cry when they were having sex.

"I tried to make her feel like the most beautiful and attractive woman in the world," he told the jury.

"I do not have rape tendencies. I am not aggressive in any way."
