A FORMER executive of a Bradford community organisation has admitted defrauding it out of more than £30,000.

Zubare Khan, 35, who was the deputy chief executive of Bradford Trident, pleaded guilty yesterday to fraudulently obtaining more than £30,457 through false invoicing.

Bradford Crown Court heard that Khan, of Parkside Road, West Bowling, would be contesting some of the aspects of the charge.

He is alleged to have produced a false invoice to state that windows were fitted at a Bradford Trident property when they were fitted at his sister's home; an invoice stating that decorating work had been done at the Woodroyd Centre when it had been done at his own home; and one stating that Bradford North District Scouts had provided a minibus for Trident, when it was for his brother's wedding.

The finer aspects of the case are to be agreed at a future date by the Crown Prosecution Service and Khan's legal team, the court heard.

The bald and bearded Khan pleaded guilty to a charge of fraud when he appeared in court eight yesterday alongside co-accused Michael Smith, who pleaded not guilty.

Khan's fraud took place between August 31, 2010, and December 2, 2011. It was said in court that he used Bradford Trident cheques to make payments of various invoices to the total of £30,457.74p.

Smith, of Leeds, is accused of putting three fraudulent invoices totalling £7,251.48p through Bradford Trident. It allegedly happened between May 3, 2011 and May 8, 2011. His trial is scheduled for February 16 next year.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, told Khan: "The next step will be sentence to be passed in respect of you. That will not happen until the end of Mr Smith's case."

Khan was bailed until the conclusion of Smith's case.

At a previous hearing, Prosecutor Andrew Dallas said Khan faced 51 charges, and "wishes to resolve this matter with an offer of guilty pleas to the vast majority of the charges."
