A GUNMAN who fired at a young mum at her home was today found guilty by a Bradford Crown Court jury of wounding with intent but acquitted of attempted murder.

Hasan Khan, 24, left Ashleigh McPherson, 22, with two gunshot wounds to her stomach after the incident at her mother's home in Longfield Drive, East Bowling, on May 16.

Miss McPherson had three pellets removed from her breast, stomach wall and forearm during a subsequent operation.

Khan, of Brassey Terrace, Bradford, who has three children with Miss McPherson's sister Sarah McPherson, admitted at an earlier court hearing to a charge of having a firearm with intent.

Sentencing was adjourned until the conclusion of alleged drugs offences hanging over Khan. He has admitted a cultivation of cannabis charge, and also faces a charge of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

Mr Justice Edis told Khan: "You have been convicted by a jury of a serious offence."

He added that he would deal with Khan's sentencing after the drugs matters had been dealt with next Friday.

Alongside Khan at court yesterday was Ann-Marie Pulford, 25, of Blackpool, who was found guilty of assisting an offender.

The court had heard during the trial that Pulford transported Khan, who she was seeing, to Blackpool and supplied him with petrol, in an attempt to destroy forensic evidence.

Giving evidence earlier in the week, Pulford's niece Tyffany Rollie told the jury that Khan rang her aunt's mobile phone on May 16 and they both drove from Blackpool to pick him up in Bradford.

Khan told Pulford he had been involved in a fight earlier that afternoon and had suffered a black eye and injuries to his right forearm and wrist, the court heard.

The jury was also told an incident between Khan and Miss McPherson's older brother Luke Orker had taken place at a different location to the shooting earlier on May 16.

Khan, Rollie and Pulford then travelled back to Blackpool in Pulford's rented black Vauxhall Astra.

But during the return journey to Blackpool, Khan went to Preston Royal Hospital's A&E department at about 8pm for treatment to his injuries and, after an X-ray revealed he had not suffered any fractures, he was discharged.

Rollie was dropped off at her grandmother's house and Khan checked into the 'By The Beach' hotel on Blackpool promenade at about 10pm.

Pulford arrived at the hotel about two hours later.

They stayed there overnight until they were arrested on Blackpool promenade the following day.

Pulford also faces a charge of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply charge, alongside Khan. She was bailed and told her sentencing would also be dealt with next Friday after the conclusion of the drugs matters.
