INQUESTS into the murders and suicide deaths of a Bradford family-of-four have opened and been adjourned giving time for police to complete their investigations.

It took little more than five minutes today for Assistant Bradford Coroner Mary Burke to hear the facts known so far about the tragedy outlined to her by Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson.

He said police were called to Jitendra Maganbhai Lad and Dukshaben Lad's family home in Blackberry Way, Clayton, at about 8.30pm on Monday by concerned relatives and neighbours.

Officers entered the house and found the bodies of Mr and Mrs Lad and their two daughters Trisha Jitendra Lad, 19, and Nisha Jitendra Lad, 16.

Mr Lad was found hanged and the others were discovered stabbed in their beds. Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

It is believed Mr Lad killed his wife and daughters before taking his own life - a revelation which has shocked the close community who have been leaving flowers outside the house.

Forensic post-mortem examinations have been carried out on the family.

Mr Lad was formally identified by his nephew Yatish Lad while the brother of Mrs Lad, Ketan Lad, identified her and her two daughters.

Mrs Burke signed cremation forms so all four bodies could be released to loved ones for funeral arrangements to be made.
