DETECTIVES have released images of two men they want to speak to in connection with a vicious street attack in Bradford that left a man with a bleed on the brain.

Christopher Johnson suffered a fractured cheekbone and eye socket after being hit with what appeared to be a gun.

Mr Johnson was walking with his friend Emma Dyson in Wibsey High Street at half past midnight on October 5, when two males came up from behind and snatched the Miss Dyson's handbag.

The pair gave chase and ended up in a secluded area in Adam Street, round the back of Wibsey School.

Miss Dyson told the Telegraph & Argus earlier this month that the two lads appeared from behind a skip with a gun, which was used to hit Mr Johnson. He fell to the floor, hit his head on the kerb and, as blood poured from his head, had a seizure.

She added that she thought her friend was going to die at the side of the road.

Police said the suspect who committed the assault was white, about 17 years old, 5ft 6in to 5 ft7in tall, and of small to medium build. He had blondish/gingery hair and was wearing a light-grey hooded top.

The second suspect was also white, about 17, and had dark hair.

Detective Inspector Neil Benstead of Bradford District CID, said: "This was a serious incident in which a man received significant injuries which left him requiring surgery. The consequences were serious enough and could easily have been even worse given the victim suffered a serious head injury.

I am keen to speak with the two men pictured in connection with the incident and would ask anyone who can identify them to contact us at Bradford CID on 101, or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"Given a handgun was used in the offence and we do not know whether it was real or not I would remind anyone with information or who knows the suspects not to approach them and instead to contact the police."
