A PLANNING committee was split down the middle over a plan to build four homes in East Bowling.
The meeting heard applicant Wajid Akram already had permission to knock down a garage and build three terrace homes on land at the junction of Fenby Avenue and Wakefield Road.
But in a new application, he asked to build the three homes as planned but instead of knocking down the garage, turn it into a bungalow. Planning officers had recommended refusal and it was left to the casting vote of chairman Cllr Shabir Hussain, who approved the plan.
