A MAN on trial for the attempted murder of a young mother went to Blackpool from Bradford after being involved in a fight earlier that day, a trial has heard.

Hasan Khan, 24, of Newlands Avenue, Fagley, denies attempting to murder of Ashleigh McPherson, 22, who suffered two gunshot wounds to her stomach during an incident at her mother's home in Longfield Drive, East Bowling, Bradford, at about 3.10pm on May 16 this year - and to wounding her with intent.

Miss McPherson had three pellets removed from her breast, stomach wall and forearm during a subsequent operation.

Khan, who has three children with Miss McPherson's sister Sarah McPherson, has admitted at an earlier hearing to a charge of having a firearm with intent.

Ann-Marie Pulford, 25, of Blackpool, has pleaded not guilty to assisting an offender, by transporting Khan, who she was seeing, to Blackpool and supplying him with petrol, in an attempt to destroy forensic evidence.

Giving evidence, Pulford's niece Tyffany Rollie told the jury Khan rang her aunt mobile phone on May 16 and they both drove from Blackpool to pick him up in Bradford.

Khan told Pulford he had been involved in a fight earlier that afternoon and had suffered a black eye and injuries to his right forearm and wrist, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.

The jury has already been told an incident between Khan and Miss McPherson's older brother Luke Orker had taken place at a different location to the shooting earlier on May 16.

Khan, Rollie and Pulford then travelled back to Blackpool in Pulford's rented black Vauxhall Astra.

But during the return journey to Blackpool, Khan went to Preston Royal Hospital's A&E department at about 8pm for treatment to his injuries and, after an X-ray revealed he had not suffered any fractures, he was discharged.

Rollie was dropped off at her grandmother's house and Khan checked into the 'By The Beach' hotel on Blackpool promenade at about 10pm.

Pulford arrived at the hotel about two hours later.

They stayed there overnight until they were arrested the following day.

Giving evidence, Miss Rollie said: "They were together, I think they were seeing each other.

"He said he had just been battered by someone and we had to go and pick him up. He said there had been a fight.

"Hasan was coming out of the house. He had a black eye, his arm was all red and he was annoyed. The bone in his arm looked like it was poking out.

"They went to a hotel in Blackpool. They just wanted to spend some time together.

"I texted both of them on Saturday, May 17, to see where they were and none of them answered me."

The trial continues.
