A MAN was struck with an iron and his friend hit with a baseball bat during a robbery at his home.

A second friend escaped injury when the iron was thrown at him, but missed, during the incident at a house on Valley Road, Liversedge, at 5.45 pm on Thursday.

A 17-year-old was hit above the elbow with a baseball bat and the 21-year-old householder was struck with an iron.

A wallet and mobile phone were taken by the three men in the incident.

Two of the men were between 20 and 26, with one around 5ft 10ins tall, white and skinny and carrying the baseball bat.

The second was around 6ft, white, with brown hair and also skinny. The third was slightly shorter and is believed to have been younger.

DI Andy Leonard of Huddersfield CID said: “This is a particularly unpleasant robbery in which three people simply going about their daily business could have been seriously injured – it is suspected that this is a targeted attack and that no one else in this vicinity is in any way at risk.

I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the three males acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident to contact Huddersfield CID on 101.”
