A 38-year-old man will be sentenced later after pleading guilty to arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

Mohammed Akbar, of Cecil Avenue, Great Horton, Bradford, appeared at Bradford Crown Court today and admitted reckless arson and a charge of damaging a window.

The arson charge alleged he endangered the life of Farida Khanam by setting fire to a bed and mattress on October 8 this year.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC said he could not sentence without a psychiatric report, which must deal with issues including risks and dangers.

Akbar was remanded in custody until sentencing on December 19.
