MASKED robbers armed with hammers and a metal bar raided a house in Bradford and held the occupants while the property was searched for jewellery and other valuables.

A gang of three raiders struck at the address, in Low Lane, Clayton, at about 8.20pm last Wednesday while the house was occupied by several women.

The offenders all had their faces covered and were armed with hammers and a metal bar, with one standing guard over the occupants while the other two made what police describe as an "untidy search" of the property.

They found jewellery, cash and two mobile telephones which were all taken before the offenders made off in a car.

That was described as a dark coloured, new style Volkswagen Golf and was last seen heading towards Clayton.

No-one was injured in the incident and police believe the suspects were Asian men, thought to be from Bradford.

The investigation is still going on and Det Insp Ryan Bragg, of Bradford District CID, said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in Low Lane in the time leading up to, or shortly after this incident.

"We would also ask anyone who saw a dark coloured, new shape VW Golf in the Clayton area to contact the police with any information they may have about this vehicle and who may have been in it."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 461 Khan at Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
