A KEIGHLEY man has been jailed for ten weeks after he persistently contacted the police and ambulance services with demands or calls for service which were repeatedly proven to be untrue reports of crime or illness.

Andrew Peacock, 35, of Highfell Rise, admitted making nuisance phone calls to Yorkshire Ambulance Service in May this year when he was living in Bingley when he appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court.

During one incident Peacock claimed he had taken an overdose but paramedics who attended found he had actually called 999 so they could retrieve his medication from the kitchen.

Peacock also admitted possessing an air rifle in public without lawful authority for which he received a separate ten weeks jail term to be served concurrently.

Magistrates said they had taken his guilty pleas into account when they imposed sentence.
