A 21-YEAR-OLD man who attacked a minicab with a hammer in late-night fury over the fare has been spared an immediate prison sentence.
Gary Lee, of Findon Terrace, Ravenscliffe, Bradford, was told by a judge at Bradford Crown Court yesterday that this was his "final chance."
Lee pleaded guilty to affray and criminal damage in Roundwood Glen, Ravenscliffe, in the early hours of December 14 last year.
The court heard he rang for a cab and asked to be dropped off at a local petrol station but became angry when told the round trip would cost up to £6.
Lee left the vehicle, telling the driver to wait.
He returned, running through nearby woodland, and smashed the driver's side window with a hammer, causing £95 damage.
Lee was sentenced to nine months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with 250 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay full compensation for the damage.
