PUPILS at a Bradford school crowned their diamond jubilee celebrations by starting the new academic year in the new school colour – gold.

A grant from a community fund run by the Leo Group has meant that all pupils at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, Bradford Road, Clayton, have been given a new school uniform. All 256 pupils and some staff were given a specially-designed commemorative polo shirt to start the new term.

Leo Group, which operates the Omega Proteins factory in Thornton, awarded the school £1,500 from its Community Fund, which supports local charities and grassroots organisations across Bradford and Calderdale.

The school’s Family Liaison Officer, Sharon Langford, said the new uniform has crowned the 60th anniversary celebrations.

She said: “We’re delighted with how the 60th anniversary polo shirts have turned out. The new school colour looks great and we’ve had very positive feedback from parents.

“2014 has been a very special year for the school and the new uniform has helped mark the 60th anniversary celebrations.”
