POLICE are hunting two men after sweets were offered to an eight-year-old boy in Bradford, in a feared attempted abduction last night.

The youngster was walking his dog on land close to the junction of Rowlestone Rise and Rowton Thorpe, Greengates, when the occupants of a small grey car started talking to him.

The passenger offered sweets to the boy, who realised he didn't know the men and walked away. The car was then driven away.

It happened at about 7.15pm yesterday - about 0.1miles from Holybrook Primary School.

Police enquiries have established that the car was seen in the area just before the incident.

The man who offered the sweets was white and is believed to be aged in his 30s. He was slim and was wearing a dark top, dark trousers and a dark-coloured hat with a peak on it, which was not believed to be a baseball cap.

Detective Inspector Neil Benstead, of Bradford District CID, said: "We are keen to identify this vehicle and would like to hear from anyone who saw a car of similar description in the Greengates or Ravenscliffe area in the time leading up to or after this incident.

"We would also like to praise the boy for taking the right action when he realised he did not know these men.

"We would ask all children not to speak to people they don't know, and to report any incidents where they are approached by strangers to the police."

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
