THE long-standing chairman of a community organisation has announced he is to step down.

Dr Mohammed Salam, chairman of Bradford Community Empowerment Network, known as C-Net, said he would be standing aside at its next annual general meeting on October 30.

Dr Salam said he had been involved with C-Net since its formation in October 2002, and had been its chairman for the past 10 years.

He said: "I do feel proud of being involved with C-Net for such a long period. I take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all C-Net board members and staff, past and present, for their unequivocal support, co-operation and trust in me.

"I also want to put on record my thanks to all our funders, past and present, for making Bradford C-Net as an exemplary vehicle to communicate with Bradford’s voluntary and community sector and key stakeholders.

"I wish every success for Bradford’s voluntary sector, our member organisations, the future of C-Net and my successor, when appointed."
