PARENTS have been urged to attend a public meeting this week to discuss ways to help all schoolchildren in Bradford district achieve outstanding progress in their education.

Speakers at the Public Forum for Education will talk about stretching pupils of all abilities, from those who have learning difficulties and special needs, to those who are gifted and talented.

Councillor Ralph Berry, Bradford Council's portfolio holder for children's services, said: "This forum is all about finding new and innovative ways to stretch pupils of all abilities. It’s a key priority for the district and we want to hear from parents, young people and practitioners on how we can build on best practice."

Discussions from the forum help contribute to policy-making in the district and anyone with an interest in the topic is welcome.

Michael Jameson, the strategic director of children's services, said: "It will be a stimulating forum. We will be looking at wide-ranging methods that have been successful in raising attainment for all children, and will also be discussing new changes to Special Educational Needs provision."

The forum takes place on Wednesday from 4.30pm until 6.30pm, at Beckfoot School, Wagon Lane, Bingley. To book a place, email call Heidi Hardy on (01274) 434335.
