Fresh appeals have been made to trace the mother of a new-born baby boy, found dead at a waste depot in Bradford a year ago.
Police inquiries and public appeals have failed to locate the baby's mother, who was thought to have health and welfare issues at the time.
The grim discovery was made by workers at Associated Waste Management, in Valley Road, Shipley, at 10.30pm, on Wednesday, September 18 last year, as they sorted waste at the plant.
Staff on one of the picking lines found the new-born's body as they sifted through rubbish collected from Bradford and Leeds.
The processing plant was closed down while police carried out forensic searches and interviewed staff, who were said to be upset by the "unpleasant" find.
Police inquiries established that on the day the baby was found, waste had been collected from north Bradford, stretching to north-west Leeds, and 36,000 letters were distributed to households in those areas to try and identify the mother, but she has still not been traced.
Police are continuing to appeal for the mother, or anyone who knows who she is, to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley has said: "While the physical effects may have lessened, we are concerned about the long-term psychological needs of the mother after going through such a terribly traumatic experience."
Anyone with information should contact West Yorkshire Police's Protective Services (Crime) department via 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
