A 58-YEAR-OLD man has been cleared of frightening women and children in the street with a Taser stun gun.
Gulfraz Majeed was yesterday acquitted of three charges of using the weapon to cause fear of violence outside his home on Charteris Road, Lower Grange, Bradford, almost three years ago.
But the jury at Bradford Crown Court convicted him of possession of two Tasers, prohibited under The Firearms Act.
He was conditionally discharged for two years by Judge Robert Bartfield, who told him: "You are now free to go and I don't want to see you again."
After the verdicts, Majeed's barrister, Giles Bridge, said his client had never been in trouble with the law, either before or since the offences, on November 7, 2011.
He had health problems, including diabetes, and was on anti-depressant tablets.
Majeed, who had spent time sectioned under The Mental Health Act, was vulnerable, Mr Bridge said.
The judge made an order to forfeit and destroy a collection of weapons found at his home, including a crossbow, axe, knives, swords, a garotte and homemade spears.
