A FRACAS in Bradford city centre sparked a major police response yesterday afternoon, with witnesses reporting groups of people fighting in the street.

At least seven police cars and dozens of officers were scrambled to the scene just before 3pm, with the confrontation starting in Sunbridge Road and spilling onto Tyrrel Street.

One eye-witness said: "It was horrendous, there was a massive crowd of them. I don't know what started it, but there was fighting and I saw at least one person on the ground."

A police spokesman confirmed the disturbance had involved a number of people, although no details were given as to what caused the incident.
