TROUBLED free school Kings Science Academy will likely lose its name when it is taken over by the Dixons Academy chain next year.
The school's governors had been working with the Department for Education to find a new academy sponsor since principal and founder of the school Sajid Raza left in spring following his arrest on suspicion of fraud in January.
Jane Tiller was originally brought in to run the school until September, and was then asked to remain in the role until January.
It has now been announced that the Dixons chain will take over running the school when her contract ends. The chain runs Dixons City, Trinity and Allerton academies, as well as Dixons Primary Music Academy.
Nick Weller, executive principal of the chain, said the school would likely be re-branded under the Dixons name.
He added: "We will be consulting with staff, parents and students on the proposal next week.
"Despite its recent problems, Kings has many strengths, with highly committed and aspirational students, staff and parents. Since Easter Mrs Tiller has done an excellent job and we aim to pick up on this work when her contract ends at Christmas."
Sajid Raza has been on bail since his arrest in January, and was this week re-bailed to a future date.
