A 56-YEAR-OLD man accused of chasing two mothers and their young children with a Taser stun gun had a large collection of weapons at his home, including an axe, a crossbow and a garotte, Bradford Crown Court heard.

Gulfraz Majeed told them he had been shooting people in Pakistan, prosecutor Chloe Hudson said yesterday.

He denies having a Taser with intent to cause fear of violence and two charges of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Anna-Marie Darnborough told the court she was walking with a woman friend and their four young children past Majeed's home, on Charteris Road, Lower Grange, Bradford, when she heard him mumbling in the garden.

"He walked towards me and said he had been to Pakistan, shooting people," she told the jury.

Miss Darnborough said Majeed had what looked like a Taser in his hand. It was making zapping noises and emitting a blue light from two metal prongs.

She alleged he produced it from behind his back and pointed it at the two mothers and their children.

"I was scared and upset and I walked away. The children were crying in the pram," she said.

Miss Darnborough told the jury Majeed came after them down the street holding the Taser in front of him.

She ran to the end of the road and looked round to find him gone.

A 14-year-old girl said Majeed told her he had been in Pakistan killing people and drinking blood.

She said he pulled out a black thing that flashed and made a noise, telling her it was a Taser gun.

The teenager, who cannot be named because of her age, told the jury Majeed was complaining that his door had been kicked in while he was in Pakistan.

Miss Hudson said that police seized two Taser stun guns and a collection of other weapons from Majeed's home on November 7, 2011.

The haul included a Samurai sword, flails, an axe, knives taped to sticks to make spears, a garotte, a knife, a crossbow and a dagger.

The Tasers were fully functioning weapons prohibited by the 1968 Firearms Act.

Majeed told the police all but the Samurai sword were "ornaments".

He accused the police of planting the Tasers in the house and said the women should be arrested for lying to the police about what they allege happened in the street.

Miss Hudson said the collection showed Majeed "had a fascination with weapons."

The trial continues.
