EMPLOYMENT may get a welcome boost in Harden and Wilsden thanks to the imminent arrival of superfast broadband, say local councillors.

Bingley Rural councillors have welcomed the announcement of additional investment in Broadband infrastructure to expand the much-needed improved internet access said Councillor Mike Ellis.

"We live in the internet ages, but when you live in an area where access is at snail's pace it counts against you," he said.

"Most importantly, this is excellent news for the more and more people who are working from home and hopefully will lead to more employment of that kind in the area.

"Employers often want people to work from home, as they get some 10 per cent more done than office workers, plus there are the savings on commuting such as time, pollution and costs."

Cllr Ellis said some 2,500 homes stood to benefit from the improved service.

“My colleagues and I have been campaigning for better Broadband provision in rural areas for quite some time now and I am sure that the residents of Harden and Wilsden will share in our delight that things are going to improve, even though we would all have liked this much earlier," he said.
