MANY of the Bradford district's most historic buildings threw open their doors to the public for this weekend's English Heritage open days.

Around 20 sites were available to visit free of charge, including various town halls, churches, and museums.

Keighley Shared Church was open to display registers and memorabilia, while Bradford City Hall held its final 'Sneak a Peek' tour of the year.

A number of churches opened with special exhibitions, including the Lower Wyke Moravian Church, built in 1753, which displayed church registers, photos, and other memorabilia to chart the history of the site.

In Ilkley, more than 30 heritage enthusiasts were taken on a behind-the-scenes tour of Ilkley Town Hall and the adjoining King's Hall theatre.

Ilkley Civic Society held the tour as part of the Heritage Open Days scheme. About 35 people took the chance to see behind the scenes of the two public buildings, and learn more about their history.
