ORGANISERS of the tenth annual Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge are calling on mountain bike and cyclo cross riders of all abilities to take part.

The 2014 event is being held on Sunday, September 21.

Over the years, the event has raised about £100,000 for the Manorlands Sue Ryder hospice, at Oxenhope, near Keighley.

It features three different rides to choose from, each named after a Bronte sister who was inspired by the landscape that riders will negotiate. All routes start and finish in Oxenhope and go upwards into the Pennine moorland.

Staff from the event’s main sponsors, Walkers Chartered Accountants, met at the Aire Valley Cycles headquarters in South Street, Keighley, to launch the challenge.

Sue Ryder fundraiser Andrew Wood said, “For this event to have raised over £100,000 is amazing. It’s a great but challenging day out and makes so much difference to our patients."

Entry costs range from £25 to £15. All riders will receive a medal and a hot meal at the finish.
