MORE than 2,000 hectares of damaged peat in West Yorkshire has been restored since last year as part of a £9 million project to improve drinking water quality.
Heather bales have been lifted by helicopter into gullies in the Chellow area of Bradford amid other places to stop peat eroding into the reservoir below.
Andrew Walker, Yorkshire Water’s catchment manager, said: “Our work will have wider environmental benefits too.”
