A 63-YEAR-old marathon man from East Bowling man is getting closer to completing 300 races after taking on his latest challenge in Lancashire.

Joginder Singh, of Flockton Road, crossed the finishing line of the Fleetwood Half-Marathon on Sunday in a time of one hour 45 minutes.

He has also taken part in 287 marathons, including seven in New York.

His previous running experiences include taking on challenges across the world

In 2012, Mr Singh ran four laps of New York’s Central Park, a total of 26 miles, after the city’s showpiece event was cancelled by mayor Michael Bloomberg in the wake of Hurricane Sandy last month.

In September 2009, he completed a 52-mile double marathon in India for the third time, running from the Golden Temple in Amritsar to Khanowal, the village where he was born.

He has also run the London marathon and two double marathons near Canterbury in Kent.
