A YOUTH worker is retiring after more than half a century of working with youngsters in Kirklees.
Peter Woodhouse, 72, will call time on his career at the end of this month.
He started working at his local youth club in 1958 in his spare time, as well coaching youth club football teams, and has worked at various youth clubs over the years.
In 1985 he took up social work and, for the last 22 years, he has worked in the Kirklees Emergency Duty Team.
Mr Woodhouse said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my work with young people and working for the children and families' service."
Chief executive of Kirklees Council Adrian Lythgo said: "Peter has dedicated his career to working with young people and families across Kirklees and his passion is inspiring. I thank him on behalf of the council for his hard work and commitment and wish him all the best for a long and happy retirement."
