THE funeral of University of Bradford student, who died after being attacked on a night out in Sheffield last May, took place on Saturday.

Anowar Tagabo (pictured) had attended a friend's wedding in Sheffield and had then gone on to meet someone in the city centre, before he was involved in a confrontation with a group of men in Carver Street, which left him with the head injuries which led to his death.

The 25-year-old came to Bradford from Sudan to study peace and development at the university which he hoped would, enable him to help resolve the conflict in his home country.

His funeral was held in Leeds.

Nathan Tomlinson, 23, of Lowedges, Sheffield, has been charged with manslaughter and is due in court on September 25.

South Yorkshire Police is still urging any taxi drivers who might have witnessed the confrontation, which happened on May 25, to come forward.
