THE fragrant smoke from hundreds of barbecues will waft over Saltaire this weekend thanks to a scheme by local traders and Bradford Council.

The Totally Locally BBQ Weekend is being promoted at Saltaire Local Produce Market which will be at the Exhibition Road car park on Saturday, from 10am until 3pm.

And 50 disposable barbecues will been given away to shoppers at the popular event which has attracted more stalls since it moved to its new location in May.

The council’s markets team has teamed up with the people behind Totally Locally Saltaire to create the Totally Locally BBQ Weekend.

The hope is that the people of Saltaire will buy their goods from local shops, including the local produce market, and hold a barbecue with their friends and neighbours and £50 worth of vouchers from Saltaire shops are up for grabs for anyone sending a ‘selfie’ of their locally bought barbecue party to totallylocallysaltaire@gmail.com.

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, the council’s executive member for employment, skills and culture said: "This local produce market has some great stalls and I’m sure there will be lots of ingredients you can buy to ensure a really successful Totally Locally' barbecue."
