CHILDRENcreated own fire-breathing dragons at a special storytelling session at Holme Wood Library .

The Flying Dragons activity session formed part of Bradford Council's Mythical Maze Summer Reading Challenge, which is taking place at libraries across the district this summer.

The national scheme aims to encourage children to continue reading for enjoyment during the school holidays.

Children, aged from two to ten, made puppet versions of the mythical beasts during the hour-long craft session.

Charlotte Hirst, a customer support assistant at the library in Broadstone Way, said: "The children really enjoyed it, and loved giving their puppets wings so they could move on the strings.

"They all went outside into our story garden to try and fly them outside for real.

"This year's mythical theme is great as it caters for both boys and girls, and the dragons were perfect to kick-off the summer reading challenge."
