Families turned out in great numbers for the first in a series of free film screenings on Bradford City Park's big screen today.

The screenings are part of fun school activities being offered by Bradford Council and Bradford City of Film.

Popular animation blockbusters Monsters University, The Gruffalo, TURBO and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are among those that will play on Bradford's Big Screen during the summer, along with How to Train Your Dragon and Despicable Me 2.

The Film and Fun Wednesdays were trialled by Bradford Council in August last year and proved to be very popular with thousands of children spending hours watching the movies and splashing around in City Park's Mirror Pool, said Coun Susan Hinchcliffe, Portfolio Holder for Employment, Skills and Culture.

Film and Fun Wednesdays run from today to August 27 in City Park.
