TWO Bradford hotel workers raped a drunken young mother in turn after picking her up at a city centre nightclub, a jury was told.

Daniel Mayo and Simon Ellis, who were both employed by the Cedar Court Hotel, took advantage of the 20-year-old woman who had downed wine, vodka and alcopops and sniffed poppers, it is alleged.

Mayo, 32, of Linton Road, Eastmoor, Wakefield, and Ellis, 30, of North Road, Wibsey, Bradford, deny rape on December 16, 2012.

Prosecutor Michael Smith told Bradford Crown Court yesterday that the men had never met their alleged victim until Mayo got talking to her in The Village nightclub in Sackville Street, Bradford, after midnight.

Mr Smith said the Bradford woman was on a night out with a female friend while her mother babysat her young son.

She drank a bottle of wine before going out at about 9pm and visiting several pubs and clubs.

The woman, who had a boyfriend, drank vodka and coke and WKD alcopops and was sniffing poppers throughout the evening.

Mayo and Ellis, who were working at the Cedar Court Hotel, off Rooley Lane, went to The Village after work with other staff members.

At 6am, the woman, who cannot be named, was carried from the club to Ellis's van, Mr Smith said.

She asked to go for a kebab and was picked up and put in the back of the vehicle by Mayo, it is alleged.

She and others were driven to Ellis's then address in Buttershaw, Bradford, where she woke in bed to find him having sex with her, the court heard.

Mr Smith said her lower clothing was by the bed and Mayo told her he too had had sex with her.

Ellis then dropped her off in the van near to her home address.

The woman told her mother and boyfriend what had happened to her and the police were informed.

The defendants were arrested in early 2013 and told investigating officers the sex was consensual.

Mr Smith told the jury they would have to consider what sort of state the woman was in at the time and whether she consented to having sex with the two men.

The trial continues.
