A POLICE crackdown saw 21 people arrested across the Bradford district over the weekend as part of Operation Viper.
The sixth weekend of intensive police activity across West Yorkshire, which ran from Friday to the early hours of yesterday morning, saw 48 people arrested, 26 vehicles seized and two stolen vehicles recovered.
In Bradford, four people were arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, three on suspicion of drink driving, two on suspicion of theft, and two for possession of a firearm, going equipped and criminal damage.
Superintendent Pat Casserly said Operation Viper was deployed to curtail the anticipated rise in offending based on previous years' crime profiles.
"This weekend's activity marks another success in our continued crackdown on criminals," he said.
"We have arrested over 200 people, seized over 175 vehicles and recovered over 20 stolen vehicles during the six operations so far.
"The activity succeeded in keeping home burglaries to within the target of less than 27 per day.
"Across Saturday and Sunday, there were only five burglaries in Bradford."
