A stunning array of cars - including an Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce and a number of famous rally cars - will take over Bradford's City Park next month.

The Bradford Classic and Performance Car Show is set to be the motoring fan's dream, with more than 150 vehicles likely to be on display.

The selection will include classic cars such as a rare 1968 Aston Martin DBS, a 1979 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, a 1971 Jensen Interceptor MKII, a stately Rolls-Royce and locally-built Jowett vehicles.

Powerful group B rally cars on show will include an MG Metro 6R4 that was driven by British former World Rally Championship driver Tony Pond, a legendary Lancia Stratos, a blisteringly fast Renault R5 Turbo, and an iconic Rothmans Porsche.

Pond, who died of cancer in 2002, is regarded as one of the best MG Metro 6R4 drivers of all time.

As well as the cars, there will children's entertainment, a stage with live music, street entertainers, and an award ceremony for best in show.

Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, the Council's portfolio holder for employment, skills and culture, said: "The classic and performance car show always pulls in the crowds to City Park and this year's line-up suggests that the cars on display will not disappoint."

The event is being sponsored by Bradford brothers Tony, Nicky and Paul Bhogal. They have been car enthusiasts since they were boys growing up in the city and recently developed a passion for classic cars – a passion shared by colleagues at their firm Autoelectro.

Staff from the firm will get involved by showing cars of their own, including a 1978 Mark II Ford Escort rally car and 1969 Camero Z28.

The event is on Saturday, August 16, from 10am until 4.30pm. Entry is free.

Classic car owners who want exhibit their vehicles at the show can download an entry form HERE. It must then be emailed to haley.torok@bradford.gov.uk. On the day, cars will need to be in position for 9.45am at the latest.

A Council spokesman said: "This is your opportunity to show your car in the stunning surroundings of the multi-award winning City Park and meet like-minded people."
