SENIOR council officers got a bit of a dressing-down for not wearing ties to a top committee meeting.

The hot summer weather proved too much for a number of male officers at a meeting of the council's Executive yesterday, with chief executive Tony Reeves and director of children's services Michael Jameson among those who decided to ditch their neck-ties.

But Bradford Council leader, Councillor David Green, gave them a light-hearted ticking off as he started the meeting.

Councillor Val Slater, executive member for housing, transport and planning, said she was wearing a bow on her outfit, and that she hoped that counted.
