A WOMAN was sexually assaulted on a canal towpath in Bingley.

The 21-year-old was alone on the path between Bingley Five Rise Locks and Gilstead Two Rise Locks when she was touched over her clothing by a man on a bike.

PC Charlotte Dawson, of the Shipley Area Neighbourhood Team, said: "This man was seen cycling along the tow path several times by the victim before the incident occurred.

"It is likely that someone else will have seen him, either on the tow path or as he cycled off towards Shipley."

The suspect, thought to aged 25 to 35, was described as Asian and chubby, with short dark hair.

He was wearing grey jogging bottoms, a tight fitting white T-shirt and riding a dark coloured mountain bike.

After the incident he was seen to ride off along the tow path towards Shipley.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened at around 11.50am on Wednesday, July 9, is asked to contact PC 5377 Dawson at the on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
