PLANS for a new eco-village in the Canal Road Corridor went on public display yesterday.

The £250 million masterplan for New Bolton Woods is a joint venture between Bradford Council and development firm Urbo Regeneration.

It includes up to 1,200 homes, a new primary school and nursery, an artificial turf football pitch and a new local centre with a supermarket, a village square, shops and restaurants.

An exhibition of the plans was held yesterday at both Bolton Woods Community Centre and Poplars Farm School.

Urbo director Andy Dainty said they hoped to submit a planning application to Bradford Council planners next month.

He said: "This bit of the process is about keeping people informed of what is going on."

Phase one of the scheme has already begun, with planning permission in place for 139 homes.

Developer Skipton Properties is in the process of building the first 46 properties in a development called The Poplars, and its marketing director Caroline Verity said 11 of the homes had been snapped up off-plan, before its show home had opened.
