A poignant memorial service to remember those lost in the 1995 Srebrenica genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina took place at Bradford's City Hall on Saturday.
The event was organised by district councillors Alex Ross-Shaw (Labour, Windhill and Wrose) and Adrian Farley (Labour, Keighley West), who visited Bosnia in December last year to meet survivors of the massacre.
The service, one of many taking place across the country to mark the EU-wide Srebrenica Memorial Day on July 11, featured Charlie Bhowmick from the Keighley Inter-Faith group as guest speaker, who talked about the importance of rejecting hatred and division to build community cohesion.
Cllr Ross-Shaw said: "It was great to see people from all walks of life attend the event.
"We have been talking about the things we'd like to do across the district using the lessons of Srebrenica to raise awareness and promote inclusion and diversity, and everyone is really enthused about taking it forward."
Cllr Farley added: "2015 will be the 20th anniversary of the genocide, so we hope to hold an even bigger and better event next year."
