ATTENDANCE was down but the Great Yorkshire still put on a good show.

There were 130,949 visitors to this year's Great Yorkshire Show, in Harrogate, compared to last year's 134,837.

Honorary show director, Bill Cowling, said: "Our gate figure is slightly down (less than 3 per cent) on last year’s which is a bit disappointing, but to have had two amazing events showcasing Yorkshire within one week is just wonderful."

I always thought it a bit too expensive, but as I haven't been for a few years I don't know what the current prices are.

Maybe people are also finding taking time out of a normal working week a luxury?

time off is a problem, especially when a lot of people in the past used to take their kids. Now, you risk a fine for taking them out of school if you want a day out.

Surely holding the show mid week is out dated, maybe shift it so it also covers the weekend.
