Two Bradford men who killed a much-loved mother and grandmother by racing in high performance cars have been jailed today for a total of more than 11 years.
Thomas Healey, 21, of Brow Lane, Clayton, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to six years, and 23-year-old Joseph Robinson, of Westminster Gardens, Clayton, was imprisoned for five years and three months by Judge John Potter.
Robinson had pleaded guilty to causing the death of 51-year-old Mary Byrne by dangerous driving. Healey was convicted by a jury of the charge.
Mrs Byrne died when she was thrown from a minicab, which was dropping her at her home in Mandale Road, Horton Bank Top, Bradford, on Saturday, April 20, 2013. The cab was struck at more than 60mph by Robinson's BMW car. Healey fled the scene in his Ford Focus.
