Police carried out a dramatic dawn raid in the Canterbury estate this morning, entering a house with reinforced steel doors, CCTV cameras and daubed in anti climb paint.

The raid, which took place at 5am, was at an address on Canterbury Avenue, and came about after information was passed on to police by residents. Once in the house police found around 30 wraps of suspected class A drugs, and two people have since been arrested.

One, a 30-year-old woman, has been charged with possession of class A drugs, including heroin and crack cocaine, with intent to supply, possession of criminal property and possession of a class B drug with intent to supply. A 28-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

Both have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

The house also had a service hatch and iron grills, and a number of phones have been seized from the property. Police spent much of the day after the raid liaising with the local community.
