Staff at the Keighley Campus of Leeds City College risk losing their jobs, claims the University and College Union.
It says jobs in the Keighley Campus hairdressing, beauty and electrical departments could be among those at risk across the entire college.
The claim has been denied by the college but members of the college’s three unions are due to be joined today by students for a demonstration outside the Park Lane campus in Leeds.
The unions say they are in dispute with college bosses over plans to axe 100 academic jobs, following similar losses in September 2013, and close a nursery in Leeds.
University and College Union representative John Giddins said it was unclear whether cuts in the three subject areas would be limited to Leeds or would include Keighley Campus.
A college spokesman admitted that electrical installation courses in Leeds were under consultation, but said there were no plans for change in Keighley. Some Leeds courses might even be moved to Keighley.
The spokesman added: “The Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy department is under review across college, but there are no current plans to reduce any curriculum offer in Keighley.”
